Leighton Meester for L'Officiel Lithuania

"Oh, honey! You're a model!"

Remember that old Sex and the City episode where Carrie was asked to be a model for charity and walk a runway in Dolce & Gabbana panties and she got all kinds of shit about whether or not she should do it? Remember when she was all nervous and invited Samantha backstage and Samantha took one look at her and uttered the tagline we have under the thumbnail above? No? Well, we remember it. In fact, it's part of the T Lo lexicon. When one of us needs the assurance from the other that their outfit looks good enough to go out, the other will do their best Samantha and exclaim "Oh, honey! You're a model!"*

Yes, we're that gay.

We're telling you this because that was our surprised exclamation upon viewing these pics of red carpet tragedy Leighton Meester, looking uncharacteristically chic and sleek.

We wonder if it was difficult to get her into these clothes, since they're so far away from the attention-getting, trend-whore, slightly slutty vibe she gives off with her own fashion choices. These looks are miles away from that, and yet she looks young and fresh and stylish. The jewelry is fantastic. It's a great little editorial from a style perspective. The pics are kind of boring otherwise.

Leighton honey, we can only hope that lessons have been learned here; that you have gained an understanding of what good tailoring, smart pairing, and clean lines can do for a gal like you. Go out in the world and show us what you've learned. Show all those girls out there who inexplicably follow your lead that they can look pretty and desirable and stylish without resorting to stripper clothes. This is your mission now. Make us proud.

*And since we're filling you in on the T Lo lexicon, you might like to know the other frequently-uttered line from that episode, stolen from Margaret Cho's Kelly Cutrone-like runway show producer. Whenever we're getting ready to go somewhere or do something, we say "Katia, GO," (Cho's directive to the first model to start the show) to motivate ourselves, e.g., "I'm ready. Do you have your keys? Okay. Katia, GO." or "Okay, here's the bank deposit slip, and I need you to drop these off at the post office and stop at the store and pick up some bananas. Got all that? Katia, GO." Try it at home! You too can be total gay pop culture sponges, darlings!
