Burberry Prorsum Fall 2011 Collection

You don't own me. Yet.

As this show opened to the dulcet tones of Dusty Springfield informing the collective gathering that "You don't own me," we couldn't help wondering if she was singing about the parade of coats and jackets in front of them; a collection of highly covetable pieces that no one owned yet. There's a '60s London feel to these coats, which makes sense given the stated inspiration of supermodel Jean Shrimpton, modeling the brand in '60s advertisements. We love the structured feel of a lot of these coats and we love the array of colors. We're surprised that the collection is weighted so heavily toward outerwear, but we can't say it ever gets boring. One thing we kind of hate are those caps most of the girls are wearing. Highly distracting and they don't go with every look. A bad styling choice in an otherwise beauitiful show. Lorenzo tweeted while watching the show online (and you should watch the video, if only for the excellent camera work and editing) that if you can afford to buy one piece of designer outerwear, Burberry is the way to go. These coats will look chic forever.

Oh, and it snowed on the runway. How fabulous is that?
